George W. Crawford Black Bar Association
The George W. Crawford Black Bar Association is one of the largest organizations in Connecticut that focuses on enhancing the role of African Americans within the legal community. The goal of the organization is to increase the number of African American lawyers not only within Connecticut but also throughout the United States. The George W. Crawford Black Bar Association works with over 84 other affiliates and collectively has over 20,000 members from within and outside the state of Connecticut.

The George W. Crawford Black Bar Association consists of lawyers, judges, and law students. The organization was originally started as the Greater Hartford Black Law Society but changed its name to the George W. Crawford Black Bar Association in 2003 to honor Mr. Crawford who was a civil rights leader and attorney.
