The Las Vegas Chapter of the National Bar Association (LVNBA) was established in 1981 as the first chapter of the National Bar Association located in Nevada, and it continues to be the only National Bar Association chapter in Nevada. The primary focus of the Las Vegas Chapter of the National Bar Association is to promote civil rights legal issues, particularly those that are faced by African Americans living in and around Las Vegas. Since the Las Vegas Chapter of the National Bar Association is predominantly focused on the legal problems related to the civil rights of the African-American community of Nevada, the vast majority of the Las Vegas Chapter of the National Bar Association members are of African American descent.

Members of the Las Vegas Chapter of the National Bar Association often join because the LVNBA is very active. Attorneys that belong to the Las Vegas Chapter of the National Bar Association frequently network with one another at the numerous social events that the Las Vegas Chapter of the National Bar Association helps put on such as the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Sunday Supper. The LVNBA also keeps its members connected to one another and the organization by regularly holding monthly meetings.
