New York State Bar Association

The New York State Bar Association was founded in 1877 and is currently the largest voluntary bar association in the entire country with 76,000 members. The New York State Bar Association claims to still follow its original mission, which is to cultivate the science of jurisprudence, promote reform in the law, facilitate the administration of justice, and elevate the standards of integrity, honor, professional skill and courtesy in the legal profession.

The attorney members of the New York State Bar Association get many benefits. These attorney members get access to discounted rate Continuing Legal Education seminars and Publications. In addition, they can save money on malpractice insurance as well as Westlaw subscriptions. Lastly, the lawyer members of the New York State Bar Association also have ample opportunities to participate in pro bono programs.

The New York State Bar Association appears to be very committed to the residents of New York. It offers quite a lot of information that the public can access and educate themselves with. In addition, the New York State Bar Association runs the Lawyer Referral and Information Service which the public can use for a minimal fee. Lastly, the bar association also runs The People’s Law School. This program offers many seminars throughout the year that the public are encouraged to attend. These seminars teach the public about many of the more popular legal topics that are prevalent in New York.
