South Dakota Trial Lawyers Association

The South Dakota Trial Lawyers Association (SDTLA) strives to benefit South Dakota lawyers who regularly represent plaintiffs in civil litigation. The South Dakota Trial Lawyers Association is dedicated to furthering the educational development of its members, protecting the rights of plaintiffs in the civil litigations process, encourage collegiality among its members, and promote high ethical standards within civil litigation. Membership is open to not only lawyers, but also to law school faculty and students.

Members of the South Dakota Trial Lawyers Association enjoy a variety of benefits. Informational resources offered by SDTLA include a bi-monthly newsletter. The South Dakota Trial Lawyers Association acts as a vocal representative for its members to the state’s legislative body through active involvement in the support of laws that benefit plaintiffs in civil litigation.

The South Dakota Trial Lawyers Association is also committed to informing the general public about the judicial system and the legal profession. The South Dakota Trial Lawyers Association frequently hosts Peoples’ Law Schools to provide local residents with legal resources that benefit their daily lives. Students interested in the legal profession can experience being a lawyer first hand by participating in mock trials that SDTLA regularly hosts in local school.
