Washington Defender Association
The Washington Defender Association (WDA) seeks to improve the quality of the criminal defense bar in Washington and provide funding for public defense organizations. This organization provides their members with access to the most recent developments in criminal law by providing resources, giving presentations, and publishing articles that deal with criminal law issues.
LegalMatch is a free online service that allows you to quickly and easily connect with qualified Washington attorneys. A valuable alternative to the referral services offered by bar associations, LegalMatch enables you to review in-depth profiles for multiple attorneys at a time. The attorney matching service provided by LegalMatch is applicable for all areas of the law. LegalMatch currently maintains an extensive database of attorneys located in Washington and across the United States.
The WDA provides free trainings to members, a technical assistance program that helps members develop case strategy, and provides a membership directory. The Washington Defender Association also has an immigration project, children’s representation project, and provides an amicus curiae committee that writes briefs to help indigent defendants. Furthermore, the Washington Defender Association is responsible for publishing numerous scholarly articles in the area of criminal defense law.
Additional benefits of the WDA include a motion bank, expert directory, and CLE opportunities. To become a member of this organization you must fill out a short application and pay a $150 annual fee.
