The Illinois Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (IACDL) was founded in 1986. While it is one of Illinois’ younger bar associations, it has distinguished itself through its unique goals. The IACDL’s mission is to preserve the adversary system of justice, while also fostering competent criminal defense lawyers and ensuring due process for defendants. It also seeks to promote study and research into the field of criminal defense law.

The Illinois Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers helps connect the public with qualified local criminal defense attorneys through its ‘Find a Lawyer’ service. The bar association’s entire membership directory is searchable online, so those in need of an attorney can easily find one that is close to them.

Members of the Illinois Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers receive a number of benefits. In addition to being listed in its attorney referral program, members also get access to the bar association’s criminal defense articles, brief bank, and case law updates. The IACDL also publishes a quarterly journal and hosts an annual seminar and dinner for its members.
