Dutchess County Bar Association

Founded in 1919, the Dutchess County Bar Association currently claims a membership base of approximately 500 attorneys. The mission of the bar association is to serve the community and to promote the understanding of and access to the law.

Each one of the approximately 500 attorney members of the Dutchess County Bar Association receives many great benefits as a result of being a member. For instance, these members can be listed in the bar association’s Lawyer Referral Service, which handles over 2,000 calls every year. By including themselves in this list, each member attorney also has his or her name placed in the bar association’s website. In addition, the bar association also runs many Continuing Legal Education classes throughout the year which members get discounted tuition to.

The public benefits from the Dutchess County Bar Association as well. Like mentioned above, the bar association runs a Lawyer Referral Service. This service strives to put each client in touch with a local attorney that is skilled in the legal areas that the client’s case touches upon. In addition, the bar association is in charge of the Dutchess County Bar Association Endowment Fund, which is in place to increase the accessibility of the justice system to the community at large.
