Legal Services Vermont (LSV) is the former Legal Services Law Line of Vermont and so renamed to reflect improved legal services, stronger advocacies and added missions. Its broad range of legal services are:

  • LSV staff work
  • Events for legal outreach and education
  • Free legal advice (calls)
  • Legal information for self-help found at VTLawHelp.org (external link)
  • Prioritizing legal cases for low-income client support
  • Representing debt and low-income eviction cases through Pro Bono Eviction Clinics

LSV is a nonprofit law firm providing legal services based in Burlington, VT. Founded in 1995, its services are free. These include free consultations, advice, and legal education for low-income communities and individuals in in the state. The volunteer network also offers first point of contact and quick action for those needing help from legal assistance programs like Vermont Legal Aid.

Its focus is on civil cases or civil legal problems to empower families and individuals with law. The organization also seeks to help these same families and individuals learn to legally stand up for their rights, and ultimately to have the power of managing and controlling their civil legal issues. LSV is financially supported by the Legal Services Corporation, which has headquarters in Washington, D.C.
