The Florida Bar is the largest bar association within the state of Florida. It boasts over 93,000 members of which 65% are male and 35% are female. The organization is made up lawyers certified by the Supreme Court of Florida to practice law within the state. The association’s responsibilities are three fold.
First, the organization must prosecute unethical lawyers in order to uphold the standards of the profession. The Florida Bar must create a client protection fund for those clients who may suffer from a financial loss due to the actions of a lawyer who is a part of the association.
Second, the association provides an arena for leadership and continuing education for attorneys. By providing this service the association makes sure that the attorneys in Florida are up to date on relevant changes in the law and are continually upholding the utmost professionalism for their clients. The Florida Bar also sponsors conferences and meetings for its members along with advice on ethics and law office management.
Third, the Florida Bar provides many services for the public. They publish legal periodicals, administer a public information program, and provide lawyer referral services. This is done to keep the public involved and to address any concerns they may have with the attorneys they are working with.
LegalMatch is a free online service that helps potential clients connect with qualified Florida attorneys. Traditionally, clients sought attorneys through basic referral resources offered by bar associations. Although these referral resources are still useful for many purposes, LegalMatch provides a streamlined process that is much less time consuming and stressful. LegalMatch currently maintains an extensive database of Florida attorneys representing a diverse range of practice areas.
