The New Mexico Trial Lawyers Association (NMTLA) exists to provide professional support to litigation lawyers who focus on representing plaintiffs in civil trials throughout the state. The New Mexico Trial Lawyers Association commits itself to promoting legislation that increases the rights of civil litigation plaintiffs and assisting its members in their professional development. Although the New Mexico Trial Lawyers Association concentrates on serving practicing attorneys, law students are also allowed to join.

The New Mexico Trial Lawyers Association strives to provide its members with several chances to network and connect with one another. Each year, NMTLA holds a meeting for all of its members at which they can network with and meet other litigation attorneys from all over New Mexico. New and inexperienced members have an opportunity to communicate with and learn from more experienced members through NMTLA’s mentorship program.

Attorneys frequently choose to join the New Mexico Trial Lawyers Association for the numerous practice tools that NMTLA makes available. For example, members of the New Mexico Trial Lawyers Association in the process of appealing a case can request the NMTLA amicus committee to write an amicus brief in support of their case. The New Mexico Trial Lawyers Association allows its members to review old briefs and depositions from other members in its online document banks.
