Founded in 1978, the Capital District Women's Bar Association is a branch of the larger Women's Bar Association of New York. With over 300 members, the bar association claims to always keep its mission in mind, which is to promote the advancement of women legal professionals in the Capital Region, encourage the fair administration of justice, provide public services, and further the opportunities for members to interact.

The members of this bar association receive many benefits. For instance, there are a number of social networking events that are scattered throughout the years. In addition, the bar association runs Continuing Legal Education classes to help its members reach the minimum amount required to continuing practice law in New York. Lastly, the members are also invited to many seminars and events where there are presenters talking about the relevant legal issues.
