Formed in the early part of the 1970s, the Alaska Association for Justice (AKAJ) was created as the state’s chapter for the American Association for Justice. AKAJ provides support to the plaintiffs’ lawyers involved in civil litigation. Since the Alaska Association for Justice focuses its efforts on the plaintiffs’ side of civil litigation, lawyers that spend over 10% of their time representing defendants in civil cases are expressly barred from becoming members.

There are numerous perks that attorneys enjoy by joining AKAJ. Members of the Alaska Association for Justice have access to AKAJ’s online document bank, where they can find depositions, motions, and other legal documents to help them in drafting their own. Members of the Alaska Association for Justice can stay connected to one another and assist each other through the AKAJ listserv.
