Established in its current form in 1999, the Arkansas Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (AACDL) provides support for the attorneys of Arkansas that work in the legal practice area of criminal defense. As the main bar association serving Arkansas’ criminal defense attorneys, the AACDL is also Arkansas’ state affiliate chapter of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. In order to provide the criminal defense lawyers of Arkansas with excellent support, the Arkansas Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers only allows for Arkansas lawyers that do criminal defense to become members and expressly bars any criminal prosecutors from joining.

The AACDL strives to be beneficial to its members in their work of helping criminal defendants. Lawyers belonging to the Arkansas Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers enjoy dining on barbecue while expanding their knowledge of criminal law and the practice of criminal defense never miss the “Law and BBQ” speaker seminar series. Members of the AACDL that have a problem that they are not able to figure out on their own are able to tap into the collective knowledge of all of the other members through the Arkansas Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers listserv.
