Sam Cary Bar Association

The Sam Cary Bar Association was formed in 1971 and was named after Samuel Eddy Cary who was the first black attorney in Colorado. When the Sam Cary Bar Association was formed in 1971 there were fewer than 15 black practicing attorneys within Colorado and now there are over 200 attorneys.

The growth of the African American legal community within Colorado has helped the Sam Cary Bar Association thrive in upholding the rights of those who were underrepresented during Sam Cary’s time. The Same Cary Bar Association has the goals of promoting African American individuals within the Colorado legal system while providing the continued support for all attorneys to uphold the utmost ethical standards required within the legal profession.
