Gwen S. Cherry Black Women Lawyers Association
The Gwen S. Cherry Black Women Lawyers Association was formed in 1985 and is named after the first Black female attorney in Dade County and the first Black female legislator in Florida. The organization spends most of its resources through representing the disadvantaged and mentoring local law and college students.
LegalMatch is a free online service that helps potential clients connect with qualified Florida attorneys. Traditionally, clients sought attorneys through basic referral resources offered by bar associations. Although these referral resources are still useful for many purposes, LegalMatch provides a streamlined process that is much less time consuming and stressful. LegalMatch currently maintains an extensive database of Florida attorneys representing a diverse range of practice areas.
The Gwen S. Cherry Black Women Lawyers Association encourages its members to support the community through its community seminars, mentorship opportunities, and free neighborhood legal clinics. Besides the numerous community service opportunities that the organization provides for its members it also provides several networking events and monthly membership meetings.
