Founded in 1960, the Iowa Municipal Attorneys Association (IMAA) exists for the benefit of the lawyers that work for municipalities in Iowa. The main goals of the IMAA are to further the professional development of its members and connect the municipal attorneys of Iowa with one another. Therefore, membership to the Iowa Municipal Attorneys Association is limited to only attorneys that are employed by Iowa’s municipalities.

The IMAA offers several benefits as part of its membership. For new members, the Iowa Municipal Attorneys Association offers a training course to educate them on the significant parts of being a lawyer for a municipality. Attorneys that belong to the IMAA stay informed of the latest changes of state legislation that impact Iowa municipalities through the Iowa Municipal Attorneys Association’ weekly legislation newsletter.
