Originally called the Massachusetts Italian Bar Association, the Justinian Law Society of Massachusetts was established in 1943. The Justinian Law Society began as a social group, allowing for Italian-American lawyers in Massachusetts to network and socialize with one another. However, the Justinian Law Society has since expanded to include judges and law students in addition to attorneys, and the purpose has also expanded beyond social development to include professional development as well.

The Justinian Law Society hosts several events throughout the year. Some of these events are educational, such as lectures featuring both panels and individual speakers. Other events are more of a social nature and include clambakes and bocce ball outings.
