Founded in 1905, the Lawrence Bar Association (LBA) supports the legal community working in the cities of Lawrence, Andover, Methuen, and North Andover in Essex County. While most of those that join the Lawrence Bar Association live in one of these four cities, members need not live or work in any of these cities. In fact, membership is technically open to anyone who is licensed to practice law in Massachusetts.

The Lawrence Bar Association is committed to improving the local community and the image of the legal profession in that community. Every year, the Lawrence Bar Association gives out scholarships to law students from the greater Lawrence area, as well as awards to lawyers and non-lawyers that do significant work to benefit the community living and working in the greater Lawrence area. Also, the LBA sponsors a speech contest for Law Day open to all high school students in the greater Lawrence area.
