Created for the benefit of lawyers working in Washtenaw County, the Washtenaw County Bar Association (WCBA) focuses on improving the professionalism and education of its members, developing a sense of community among those of the legal profession in Washtenaw County, and increasing affordable access to the legal system for the local community. Membership for the Washtenaw County Bar Association is open to all attorneys that are engaged in the practice of law in or reside in Washtenaw County.’ Paralegals, law students, and former lawyers that live, study, or work in Washtenaw County may also join, but may only be associate members.

The Washtenaw County Bar Association is very active both professionally and socially. Several of the bar association’s members participate in the many different substantive law sections that meet monthly and host informative events throughout the year, including probate court training seminars and brown bag speaker series. The WCBA also frequently hosts social gatherings that allow for its members to mix and mingle with one another in a relaxed setting, such as the annual tailgating party at a University of Michigan football game and regular happy hours at different bars scattered throughout Washtenaw County.
