Created in 1903, the Springfield Metropolitan Bar Association (SMBA) exists to enhance the professional lives of all lawyers working and residing in and around the city of Springfield. The SMBA’s predominant objectives are to advance the practice of law, further the integrity and honor of the legal profession, and to encourage the social and professional communication among its members. Membership to the Springfield Metropolitan Bar Association is open to not only lawyers working in Springfield, but also to lawyers living outside of the counties surrounding the city and law students currently enrolled at accredited law schools.

The Springfield Metropolitan Bar Association strives to provide many benefits to its members. Attorneys that belong to the Springfield Metropolitan Bar Association can network with and get to know other members that practice in their same legal field by joining SMBA legal practice committees. Members of the Springfield Metropolitan Bar Association that need temporary workspace or a place to meet with others in downtown Springfield can use the workrooms at the SMBA office.

Additionally, the Springfield Metropolitan Bar Association is committed to helping the residents of Springfield and the surrounding communities. Once per month, members of the SMBA provide free legal advice to KYTV viewers through the Springfield Metropolitan Bar Foundation’s KY-3 Call A Lawyer program. The SMBA also gives local high school students an opportunity to experience the legal profession through its mock trial program.
