The North Carolina Association of Defense Attorneys (NCADA) was established in 1977 to serve the needs of North Carolina’s insurance defense litigators. However, the NCADA has since expanded to provide support to all civil litigators in North Carolina that specialize in representing defendants. Consequently, membership is now available to any lawyer that is licensed to practice in North Carolina and predominantly focuses on representing civil defendants.

Attorneys enjoy several benefits from the North Carolina Association of Defense Attorneys that promote their professional development. For members that do not have the time to attend continuing legal education seminars in person, the NCADA makes several of the seminars available to its members on its website so that they can watch the seminars when it is convenient for them. The North Carolina Association of Defense Attorneys has several practice groups that allow for members to network with others that deal with the same area of law that they work in.
