The New Jersey Women Lawyers Association (NJWLA) was formed in 1981 to meet the professional and personal needs of female lawyers in New Jersey, as a supplement or alternative to the New Jersey State Bar Association. The organization exists to promote gender equality in the legal profession, endorse qualified female attorneys for judicial appointments, and to encourage young women to consider careers in the law, among many other objectives. As a private organization, membership in the NJWLA is completely voluntary.

Boasting over 300 members, the New Jersey Women Lawyers Association is a significant player in the New Jersey legal profession.
