The Ohio Women’s Bar Association (OWBA) was formed in 1991 and the mission of this organization is to further professional development of women attorneys in Ohio. OWBA also seeks to address the legal issues facing all women as well as those facing women in the legal community.

The OWBA offers networking events and other professional development opportunities such as CLEs, luncheons, happy hours, and charitable events. Some unique features of OWBA include the leadership institute, which is open to between 14-17 members who have been in practice for more than five years. This institute teaches women attorneys how to thrive as leaders in their community and law firms.

The OWBA also offers law student scholarships to select law students, presents awards such as the Founder’s award submitted annually to an outstanding women attorney in Ohio, and the Family Friendly award to the law firm who is the most understanding of associate’s family commitments. Other features of the OWBA include a member directory, newsletter, and job postings.

Membership in the Ohio Women’s Bar Association is open to lawyers, law students and legal professionals. Membership is not limited to women, but you need to support the mission of the Ohio Women’s Bar Association. To become a member you must submit a membership application and pay an annual due which ranges from $0 for law students to $75.00 for attorneys with more than two years of experience.
