The Berkeley County Bar Association (BCBA) strives to further the legal profession in Berkeley County. The overall focus of the BCBA is to encourage a high level of competence and ethics among its members in order to enhance the practice of law in South Carolina. While the majority of the Berkeley County Bar Association’s activity happens in Berkeley County, membership is expressly open to all attorneys that are licensed to practice in South Carolina.

One of the ways that the BCBA manages to improve the practice of law in Berkeley County is by reaching out to new lawyers. The Berkeley County Bar Association provides free continuing legal education courses to newly-licensed attorneys that are assigned to certain kinds of cases by the local government, such as neglect cases. Also, the BCBA has a very active Young Lawyers Division that regularly hosts social events for new members where they can connect with one another.

The BCBA works to be beneficial to its other members as well. Members of the Berkeley County Bar Association are able to advertise their law practices at no cost on the BCBA website. Additionally, the Berkeley County Bar Association arranges several opportunities for its members to network with other members throughout the year, such as the annual golf tournament for charity.
