Created in 1973, the Knoxville Bar Association (KBA) is dedicated to improving the practice of law and the professional lives of Knoxville’s legal community. Some of the tools that the KBA makes available to its members in order to make their professional lives easier are discounts with corporate partners such as Brooks Brothers and LogicForce Consulting, an online classifieds forum on the KBA website, and a weekly newsletter and monthly magazine that keep members informed of the latest news affecting the local legal community. The Knoxville Bar Association also strives to maintain a sense of community among its members by having several active committees and sections devoted to different legal practice areas, including the Family Law section and the Fee Dispute committee.

The KBA is also committed to helping out the local residents living in and around Knoxville. Attorneys that belong to the Knoxville Bar Association frequently donate their time and services to the KBA’s Lawyer Referral & Information Service program, which provides free consultations in several different areas of law such as personal injury and workers’ compensation. The Lawyer Referral & Information Service also has a number of useful articles on its website that are designed to inform local residents of their state and federal rights in regard to various legal issues, including DUI and child custody.
