The Peninsula Bar Association (PBA) was created to serve the professional needs to the African-American legal community in the Peninsula region of Virginia. Despite existing primarily for African-American attorneys in the Peninsula area, membership for the Peninsula Bar Association is open to all lawyers and law students working or living in the Peninsular region that wish to join. By allowing all lawyers to join regardless of race, PBA helps promote its goal of furthering equality within the legal profession in the Peninsula area.

In addition to encouraging equality within the local legal community, PBA is also devoted to benefiting the local community. Members of the Peninsula Bar Association are encouraged to mentor future lawyers that are currently attending local law schools through the Peninsula Bar Association’s mentorship events at these schools. The Peninsula Bar Association also educates middle school children about the judicial process through its Rule of Law program.
