Formed in 1941, the Prince William County Bar Association (PWCBA) is dedicated to achieving the goals set forth by its founding members of promoting the collegiality and professional improvement of its members and maintaining the dignity of the legal profession in the county. Anyone licensed to practice law in Virginia and currently working as an attorney in the 31st Judicial Circuit of Virginia or live in Prince William County is eligible for full membership, but lawyers that are eligible for membership must procure the sponsorship of two members of PWCBA in order to be considered for membership. The requirement of obtaining two sponsoring members allows for the Prince William County Bar Association to ensure that the members of its organization are of the highest caliber.

There are several ways that the Prince William County Bar Association helps out its members. Members of the Prince William County Bar Association are able to keep current on the latest updates to the law and to the local legal community through continuing legal education courses produced by the PWCBA and through the information contained in the Prince William County Bar Association’s monthly newsletter. The Prince William County Bar Association also gives its members many chances to connect with one another through its many social events, such as the annual Bench-Bar Dinner Dance.

In addition to being beneficial to the legal community of Prince William County, the Prince William County Bar Association also aids the general public living in the county. For local residents in need of low-cost legal representation, the PWCBA operates the Modest Means Panel that provides approved clients with legal representation at a reduced rate from members of the Prince William County Bar Association. Also, the Prince William County Bar Association provides a full description of who an attorney is and what an attorney does, in addition to several other useful pieces of information regarding what a potential client can expect from an attorney, on its website so that the general public may be better informed about the legal profession.
